How to improve the stats for my discussions?

India
January 10, 2025 9:35am CST
After 233 days on Mylot, I have touched my 200th Discussion. I was looking forward to this milestone a little earlier but then things happen at a time, it is destined. I can be slightly happy with the fact that responses per discussions increased from 4.74 to 6.55 from what it was on 100th discussion vs now. Again, I am blessed with the fact that I have been responding to all comments received so far (although there is a delay from my side for a day or two). Acknowledging responses has always been important for me. The maximum comments received was 16 for a single discussion. Well, the intention of the discussion was not bragging but was your inputs on how I can improve my stats when it comes to discussions. Since I have finance background, sometimes my brain only looks for facts and figures and hence the numbers sprung up. If there is a way, I can improve the discussion quality or the stats of my discussions, do kindly let me know.

myLot pays for interactions. It can be on your own discussions or on discussions written by other people. One thing you could try is to add a picture when you write a discussion. (Years ago someone said they received more interactions when they had a picture with their discussion so a lot of us started adding a picture. If you don't have a picture, you can borrow one from Pixabay. It allows you to use their pictures without needing to give an attribution.) Another thing to try is respond to other people on their discussions. (myLot isn't a mutual exchange site but some people treat it like one. People don't HAVE to talk on your discussion just because you talked on theirs.) Try to ask open ended questions so other people have a reason to keep talking with you. As long as you're interesting to talk to, people will talk to you. Any interaction here earns you money. (Getting a "like" on a discussion, response or comment earns money. When someone talks to you, you earn money. When you talk to them, they earn money. It doesn't matter if you're talking on their discussion, on your discussion or if you talk to someone on someone else's discussion. As long as someone talks to you, you're earning money.) Just reading something someone else writes, earns them money, even if you don't talk to them or "like" what they say, it still earns them money. I can't think of anything else to tell you but if something else comes to mind, I'll let you know. Edit to add: You could look at other peoples' discussions and see what worked for them. Some people get a LOT of interactions on their discussions. Those are the people you want to copy.

@akalinus I like most people and enjoy helping them. Thanks. You're always fun and interesting to talk with, too.

I think you are doing a great job with your discussions. Respond to other people’s discussions, and they usually reply to yours. Oddly, the discussions people seem to get the most responses are food, animals/pets, or weather. One would think people would get tired of those topics, but people seem to respond to those. I don’t normally write about those things, but an awful lot of people do. Whatever you do, just be true to your kind self.

I was surprised by that finding as well. But then I do not want to be one that i am not. I will seek to improve my topics and see if I could touch thse topics in a different way. Thanks for your words!

There are a million ways to talk about animals, whether pets or outside. I did well with my cat's eye problems, and one discussion I called the zoo behind my door or something similar was about all the animals outside. I lived in a more country setting then. "The Stork Stole My Fork" also did well.

We are paid by the number of responses we get. I have found I do better with posts about food (no recipes allowed in myLot), animals, including pets or wildlife, anything about ghosts, and how to make money. Per the administration, we can't discuss earning sites anymore. Read the hot discussions under explore to see what is most popular.

Well, I would consider those niches. I also do not want to be someone which is not me. Besides I am poor with some of those topics myself.May be I know 1 or 2 . Thanks for support!

@RevivedWarrior, I am just saying what works for me or what subjects people post about do best. If you have some skill or interest that would interest many people, please write it. You don't have to follow what anyone else thinks. I will be here to comment on whatever you write.

I think you're doing all the right things and you have some good advice in the responses. I am lucky enough to mostly get quite a few comments. Being in Australia helps because many things are a bit 'different' and therefore I suppose interesting. I also look for interesting/quirky things to write about. I always put a photo even if it doesn't match the comments. I'm sure the numbers will build up if you keep doing what you're doing.

@JudyEv, You often come across as quite funny. I laugh while reading some of your posts. It makes my day when someone makes me laugh and it makes my day if I make someone laugh. I'm not sure if you purposely do that but I enjoy it a lot.

Mylot is best interactions, more response discussions and more active with people.

@RevivedWarrior If you never respond to people, they will stop responding to you. I also try to respond to at least one new poster every day. I earn faster when I answer a few notifications, then go to new discussions and answer the ones that interest me and return to notifications for a while.

You are very true - We can never guess which discussion would get responses and which would get less. There were many discussions I was surprised to see less responses where as some I was surprised to see the numbers. Thanks for sharing!

I would say to keep doing what you are doing, but also try to read and respond to other people's discussions. That helps you make friends here and opens the door for more communication.

People like food posts, maybe you could write something about your native dishes and how they are prepared.
