Please give me ideas!

I could really use some ideas. I don’t know why when my sister (a wonderful person), has never expressed interest in doing anything with me, just asked if I wanted to go on a sister trip. I told her I couldn’t afford it, but she said it would be a birthday and Christmas gift from her and my dad. I briefly wondered if my doctor had called them and told them I was dying, as a trip seemed so out of the blue. However, I’ve always wanted to be closer to my sister so I thanked her and my dad profusely and said I’d love too. Her first suggestion was Disneyland (you might remember we were going to do that before, but decided on a family cruise to Canada instead). My dad said that’s too much walking for me (I could do a few hours I think). So guys, I need some suggestions from you.
It can’t be terribly expensive, and not international. I can’t go anywhere hot. We’ll be going in November of this year or February of next year. It’s okay if I’ve been there before, and a place like New York is out due to cost. She said she does not want to go back to Branson because we always go there.
Please give me ideas. She wants to book soon because it’s cheaper.
*Also, I got six hours of sleep last night!

I put a little bit of research into this, but only a little-sorry.
Since you have some restrictions due to your back, what about going to Lake Norman and staying there, it would be very relaxing and then maybe take an afternoon boat cruise as the highlight of the trip?
That would allow for some really great low-key bonding, and relaxation.
It might be a fun place to start.
PS-Your sister and Dad are so thoughtful, the gift of time spent together is priceless.

Yes, they are sweet, aren’t they? I mean they have their own lives, and are doing something so kind for me. My sister has a family, and is taking time out.
I looked up Lake Norman, and it looks beautiful! I’m definitely putting that on the list. It sounds up her alley AND mine.

@AmbiePam Imagine how relaxing it would be if you stayed on the lake. I love times such as that.
Our lives are so rushed, that when we take 'time' we should have a balance and give ourselves the luxury of relaxation, quiet, the sounds and scents of being so close to nature.
The selling point to Mindy could be that you found a boat cruise.

One of my grandmothers had the maiden name of Middleton. I knew that her branch of the family immigrated through South Carolina, but until I did my Ancestry thing a few years ago, I had no idea that I was related to so many of the families there. Middleton Place was built by my grandmother's family, I really enjoyed touring that and did so several times. Charleston and Savannah are somewhat alike as they both have so, so much interesting history. I never get tired of reading about it or visiting there when I've had the chance to.

I absolutely love Charleston, and also Savannah, Ga. So much history, scenic, and just a lot to see and do.

Yay, on the six hours of sleep!! That is about what I got! I couldn't fall asleep last night and was up until 2:30-2:45 am!
Have ya'll been to the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee? Lots to do there and many scenic routes to take to take in nature! Cade's Cove is a drive though tour where you can get out at sites along the way (old homesteads, churches, store, etc.) or keep going. Lots of wildlife here too, so fun for all ages. Also, sites in NC are just over the mountain and another pleasant drive.

There really isn't much walking on a cruise if you don't want to. Just on the ship itself..You can opt in or out of the side trips as to how you are feeling. I thought this trip was settled. Why is your dad making decisions about how much you can walk? You would know best wouldn't you? So, I am confused is this a seperate sister trip or just one for the family and you? I thought the cruise was a done deal. Maybe if it is just one for you and sis..What about Dallas? It seems to have a lot going on there, and wouldn't be too far away. Or go to Pawhuska to the Ree Drummond hotels and restaurant. I would definitly go there if I lived in Oklahoma. Very nice of sis to suggest this. I forgot to mention that is awesome about sleep. You must feel like a million bucks.

Oh, the cruise is a done deal. This is a separate trip. That cruise is my number one priority.
I like the Pawhuska idea. My sister went though, to the restaurant, met her husband there, and then her and my cousins did the tour of her house, but I don’t know if she’d want to go back.
My sister seems to be determined to get me to Disneyland, and for some reason my dad wants me to go to Jamaica. I’d be happy with a cabin in the mountains or on a lake. I’m starting to feel after talking to my sister today that maybe we should call it off.

@snowy22315 Yeah, that’s a good point. Disneyland won’t be bad as long as it’s not what she initially said. She initially said fly in Monday, go to the park Tuesday, and fly home Wednesday. I’m not doing that. It’s too hard on me.

@AmbiePam Call what off? The sister trip? I wouldn't. You would get a chance to bond without the kids. I have been on a couple of trips or meet ups with sis, but not lately. I am talking year. s I really wanted to show her this one store I liked one time and she ended up going with her hubby.

Some of my favorite destinations are beaches or mountains. A cabin somewhere or a beach house would give you time together and be relaxing.

That's good news about the six hours of sleep. I suppose Western Australia is out of the question?
But it seems you have some great suggestions here. I hope you can come to a compromise and don't get talked into going to Disneyland if you don't want to.
