Early Monday Morning Start!

We got up late this morning due to going to bed late. We ended up watching television way longer than we thought we would last night and went to bed around 2 am, give or take a few minutes. Right after 4 am, I woke up with one of the roosters crowing. I got up and made a trip to the bathroom and wondered if that was a sign for me to wake up. I looked at my phone to check my husbands glucose reading and sure enough, we had slept through at least 2 alarms. It was at 63. I woke him up and asked him what he wanted to eat. He of course was "out of it" and said that he just wanted to sleep and to leave him alone. I made my way to the kitchen and prepared the usual, peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a glass of milk. I had managed to get him to turn on his bedside lamp and sit on the side of the bed so he could eat. I pulled out the book I am reading while he ate and watched to make sure his blood sugar levels were rising. It took about 45 minutes for it to start going up. We then turned the lights out and went back to sleep. Blood sugar crashes in the wee morning hours are no fun! But, I'm thankful for that wake up crow! Did you start your day early today or usual time?

I was awake around five this morning. Couldn't drop off, so I listened to my audio book until it was seven

Usual time for me which is typically between 5am and 530am. I imagine the blood sugar thing can be trying at times.

It gets old, but you get used to the routine and it has to be dealt with or either ER visit.

@kareng It's like my back issues. You just get used to it, and after at least 7 years of it with it only getting worse, what else can you do but learn to live with it, get used to it, and deal with it?

It must be stressful to be continually on the alert for low blood sugar.

The Dexcom monitor helps, he doesn't have to continually poke his finger and test for it. We both have it on our phones too, and get alarms starting at 150 to alert you that it is on the way down.

@JudyEv That is awesome! Then need to train for sleep apnea alerts!! Our first son in law (ex now) just lost his older brother from sleep apnea last month. He was only in his 40's!

@kareng It's great that there is technology to help. I read about dogs being used to detect lowering levels in sleeping children. The dogs would alert the parents. How amazing is that?

I slept suprisingly well last night, and woke up a bit later than usual. I think I slept well, because kitty wasn't around bugging me to get up and feed him. He was staring at friend and Jax before he decided to ask for food.

Yep! Usually the alarm wakes at least one of us up, if not both!
