I Feel Better Now

I have felt stressed and out of sorts since Donald Trump took office. I have posted innumerable posts on here ranting about his idiocy even before he was inaugurated. I haven't liked the man since I first saw him interviewed by Barbara Walters back in the early 90s. I have had a few members express their dislike of my posts on this subject and I really have tried to calm down and not post so much but when he, and his cohorts, do something dastardly I have to express my feelings. I am just not one to stay quiet, roll over and play dead. But, after hearing Hakeem Jeffries speak a few nights ago I must say I do feel better. My anxiety rose from the chaos and lack of order in the White House. He reaffirmed for me that Democrats haven't given up and that they are hard at work trying to keep back the fascism Trump is trying to inflict on this country.
Hakeem Jeffries is a 54-year-old lawyer and politician who in 2022 became the first Black American to lead a party caucus in either chamber. He is now the minority Democratic leader of the US House of Representatives.
He said that there have been 75 legal lawsuits against Trump and there are more to come. He affirmed that there are many personal and global concerns that America and the world are facing right now. He says to rest assured he and the members are working hard to keep Trump from having the fascist regime he so badly wants.
He also re-established the fact in my mind that there is the narrowest majority since the Great Depression, 218 Republicans and 215 Democrats, and that we only need 3 Republicans to do the right thing in any vote brought up. He made it clear that the Democrats will make the Republicans accountable. He also said that the Democrats do have power over the upcoming budget.
Ahh, I can breathe now. I am no longer feeling so overwhelmed. I needed to hear that the Democratic party hadn't melted and become more lap dogs for Trump's bidding. No, with Jeffrie's attitude, I feel much better. So calm and definite. I needed to know that Democrats do have backbones although they do lack in campaign know-how.

My faith keeps me from being stressed. And John Prine had perfect advice for things like this in his song “Spanish Pipedream:” “Blow up your TV, throw away your papers.”

That would be a good thing if a person had a life. I don't so I enjoy the TV and internet. They are my lifeline.

Yes, it is. It isn't getting any better. At least I know now that Jeffries is doing the noble fight for our country.

Glad you are feeling better. Some things take more than a majority vote and that helps.
