When it comes to 1955, there’s one name that stands head and shoulders above every other one. Yes, we like Ike.
You knew he’d show up (or I think you knew), so here he is, because 70 years hasn’t diminished his popularity any.
I’m Left, You’re Right, She’s Gone - Elvis Presley
What else could you want in a song? Scotty Moore doing a Chet Atkins impersonation on his guitar solo, Elvis actually playing rhythm guitar on the session, and things that are definitely showing a move toward that “rock-billy” that you heard earlier with Johnny Cash. (They were both label mates on Sun Records at the time.)
This is a pretty funny song, too: the guy’s crying that he didn’t pay attention that the girl he had been seeing would “only break my heart,” but he forgets it because he’s now got eyes on the girl who warned him.
Where would we be without Elvis!
I’m Left, You’re Right, She’s Gone
Written by Bill Taylor and Stan Kesler
Recorded by Elvis Presley
Released as a single, 1955
I guess I’m not so smart:

I like it, but it’s not one of my favorites of his.

I like it better than “Baby, Let’s Play House,” which was the other side of the 45.

Something I have missed of Elvis and I had quite a collection of his albums

Wow, thought you’d know this. We had the 45 when I was a kid.

This is the first time I heard this song. I like it. Well, it's Elvis's song.
