That One Thing You Hate Doing

Happy Wednesday Everyone! it's not quite as warm as yesterday but the sun is shining so that's always a good thing I'm sitting here enjoying my coffee and a morning talk show is on the tv. The question they asked is this...."if you could have someone do something you hate to do, what would it be?" The most common answer is housework (by the women) and yard work (by the men). Over the past year I've seriously thought about hiring a housekeeper but just when I'm ready to do it, I change my mind. Most of the time I think about it when I'm cleaning the bathrooms and trying to get behind the toilet and into those hard to reach places. It would also be nice to have someone do the showers and the floors. Now that spring is coming it really would be nice to have a whole house cleaning including all the windows. It's tempting and I just might finally do it. What is something you'd love to have someone do for you that you hate doing?

Someone to wash my windows and dust and clean my oven would be nice.

The older I get the longer it takes me to get stuff done. I remember the days when I could clean the whole house in one fell swoop and still have plenty of energy left.

@Marilynda1225 Tell me about it. I sometimes need to take a break between chores.

I really dislike folding clothes. That is probably my most hated task, that is why I hang so many things up. Take heart Marilyn, they say in the next 10 years there will be robots to do those household tasks for us..but it will probably be like everything else, they will cost thousands of dollars and then come down in price. I hope I have one in my old age, not that I 'm not old now..but yeah, I could get into one of those.

I'm not crazy about folding clothes either but I hate dusting more than laundry. I would love a robot

There is nothing I hate doing, I am lucky to be alive I suppose, even in these miserable circumstances.

@Marilynda1225 No..I posted about the last one I looked at. My son had a severe reaction when we looked at it due to the chemicals they sprayed in there.

Any chance you've been lucky enough to find a new place?

My most hated job is wiping all the windows on cold mornings when they are covered in condensation That and unblocking the shower drain when it has got clogged up with hair.

That clogged shower drain is a nuisance and removing the hair is a pain. I'm the only one who uses my shower and I should be bald with all the hair I seem to lose

@Marilynda1225 And you can't even blame anyone else when you know it's just you!

I have my husband's 2nd cousin as a housekeeper and I don't know what I would do without her. She runs around getting things for me and doing various little chores. Saves me from hobbling around. Have a good day.

You're lucky to have her especially since she's family and not a stranger coming in to do those things for you. Basically that's what makes me hesitate...a stranger coming in and being in my space.

@Marilynda1225 I can understand that. I let her get into personal things, knowing that she's not going to take something, etc. I wouldn't want a stranger in my house either.

I hate to wash dishes after dinner. It would be great if someone can do that for me. I can relax after dinner.

Wouldn't that be great! Being able to relax after dinner and someone else does the clean-up

I do not dislike all housework but heating milk is the worst chore for me.

We all have something we hate doing. Some of the responses I've heard (from the morning tv show) weren't even house related. One person would like someone to do all the driving for them.

My answer used to be vacuum cleaning, but now I have a robot vacuum, which I love, so I cannot say that any more. I don't mind most other chores, except for dusting, that isn't my favorite job to dy.

I would love one of those robot vacuums but I don't know if it would work for me. My area is open floor plan and there's furniture in the way. How does your vacuum avoid bumping into furniture?

@Marilynda1225 It is just amazing with furniture. I usually put the chairs to the table in another room, so that the cleaning is done as I would do it, only a robot will not lift and move a chair. But, regardless I cannot move everything, and she goes gently around everything, never bumping into anything, she has sensors and they work well. She manages well on the hard flooring as well as the carpeting.

Right now I am having hard time getting back on track since I lost one of my cats so right now just someone at hand to be nearby and urging me onward. Tish is feeling spring coming and hoping around like a rabbit and that helps cheer me,

I am so sorry to hear about your cat. You must be so heartbroken. It's not easy to get over losing our beloved pets.

I'd have them do exactly what you've suggested - bathrooms and floors. It's getting harder and harder for me.

Bathrooms are the hardest for me especially bending and trying to get around the toilet and behind it. I guess one of these days I'll find someone to come in and do the stuff I can't do anymore.
