I´m changing my eating habits. Politics.

Life and politics have made me change the way I eat and drink. The first thing that happens, a few years ago, was that my tummy could not accept much wine. So now I drink one glass and only when Humberto comes and dines here. I cook for Dixie and HUmberto and he brings a bottle of good Chilean wine. He is also drinking less so I tell him to take with him the rest of the bottle. Now, for political reasons, I will not drink even a bit of my favorite booze. I favor Jack Daniels and keep it in my closet as I only drink it with Humberto. It is better and more expensive than Scotch. Now I will finish the bottle I have (or leave it for Humberto) and start drinking sothing else. I´m not buying any American produce while Trump is the US President. I did the same when the cookie company changed the name of my favorite cookies from "Negrita" to "Chokita". I know that nothing will happen. But my conscience is clear. I remember decades ago when Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. told his followers not to drink Pepsi Cola (a drink they favored over Coca Cola) if some rights were not given. That helped because many people followed him. I am hot Dr. King but he is my hero. And I believe in principles. So as long as the rest of the world is being bullied, I will not have my tiny glass of JD. And I will not buy pancake syrup or America meat either. I´ll have to check what to eat or drink instead. I just found out that Baileys comes from Ireland. I have been more that shocked by the US administration wanting Canada to become part of the US and to do the same with Greenland. And to change Gaza into a sort of resort while its people go elsewhere makes me feel that Hitler was a wonder if compared. @porwest just told me that we must talk about politics. So here I am. I don´t belong to any part, here or there. But I don´t want to live in a planet with slaves.

Even if it probably means little, I feel I must do it. It is like picking up a paper from the floor.

Good luck and good to act in good conscience. But the only one who will suffer any pain is you.

I suppose that we have to pay a price to live according to our principles.

@porwest It is possible. But I don´t much mind. I discovered that there were other liquors I love made elsewhere.

@marguicha Not arguing that. Just saying, you are the only one who will lose in this particular one.

Exactly. I know I will not have to decide whether to buy an electric car or not (because I won´t buy a car for the rest of my life). But I can stop buying groceries imported from the US. Specially since we have many delicious things that are Chilean. I will miss my Jack Daniels though.

Sometimes we all have to take a stand on issues we feel are important.
