As days are growing shorter Luna is eating earlier. So I gave her a snack (an egg) and while she was licking it I gave her her food. Snacks go to one dish and dog food goes to another. She must eat her dog food but I never know if she will like the food I eat. Some far though, in 4 years, the only thing she hasn´t liked was a strawberry. I was very mad at her because I was sharing my own dessert out of the goodness of my heart. Now I don´t give her any sort of fruits, let alone sweets of any kind. Do you give snacks to your pets? Coral often cooked for them but I only give Luna leftovers or food that has been too long in the freezer although I know it is good. And as I an cooking with little spices now, I know that she will not get ill with it.

My dog gets dog biscuits that I call "cookies!" Yesterday I gave him half of a sugar cookie and the took it and looked at me as if to say, "What IS this????"

The strawberry made me realize that dogs don´t like sugar. But they love what I cook as a main dish.

@kareng My hubby routinely gives human sweets to the pups. I can't get him to quit so I am quiet about it. Every time I make pancakes the pups also get a bite.

@sallypup Mine gets certain leftovers. He loves green beans and green peas! So he will get those mixed in with his dog food when I have leftovers.

Dogs are just like humans. Some like fruit and some don't. Some like sugar and sweets and some don't. When I was growing up mom and dad both discouraged us from sharing candy with the dogs or eating it in front of them. We had a shepherd that would knock us down if he thought we had candy and he could take it away from us. I never liked the dogs jumping up on me so was careful to finish sweets before going outside. My younger brother didn't think ahead so was always getting knocked down and his candy taken... Dad wouldn't give him another piece because my brother knew not to take it outside.

@DaddyEvil Those are the things we should learn first. My sister never learned that she should not make her cookie last more than mine. I was bigger and coaxed her until she had to give me a bite.

@marguicha It took Mark a long time to learn not to take candy outside but he did eventually learn.

I am glad Luna is well fed. My cats eat lots of seafood that I have. They love salmon and crab.

Luna eats all the water from the tuna cans I eat. I prefer tuna in oil but don´t dare give it to Luna so I´m stuck with tuna in water.

@jstory07 Even though tuna in oil is much better. That´s the way us parents make sacrifices for our children.

I give mine a slice of pepperoni each night when I put them in their crates. With having 3 dogs I don't give a lot of goodies as they want to fight over them.

That´s a real treat. Funny, I cannot think of Luna being placed inside a crate. She has her house at the terrace and her bed is better than mine.

@marguicha The 2 girls fight at times so they are crated when I won't be able to interfere quickly if needed. Usually it doesn't get to that point. I have had dogs that liked fruit. When we first moved here I bought a pear tree that had one on it. I kept telling the doberman mastiff mix I had at the time to leave it alone. I wasn't watching one day and she had stolen my pear.

The pups over here have my husband to hassle so they probably get more goodies than they need besides dog biscuits at bedtime.

I don´d buy dog goodies. Here they are very expensive. So I give Luna some special snacks from my own food when I can share.
