They tell you to learn something every day. I did! Now that I’m enjoying lunch after my lesson I’ll let you learn a song that you may have heard in older TV shows or movies. Let’s go back 70 years to one of my favorite singers.
Tweedlee Dee - Teresa Brewer
Don’t stop me if you’ve heard me say this before during the 1955 list this month: there are a ton of versions of this song to pick from. It began with LaVern Baker and everyone started covering it. It started with Georgia Gibbs, whose version quickly outpaced Baker’s original in popularity. The success of Gibbs’ version (and, to a lesser extent, Baker’s) didn’t stop other people from covering it.
One of those covers was by Teresa Brewer, who easily ranks as one of my favorite female singers. It was her version of another song on this list, “Pledging My Love,” that was the first time I heard that particular tune. Well, waddaya know, she did the honors with this song, too!
This is a fun, lighthearted tune that we sometimes need to enjoy just for the sake of a little fun!
Tweedlee Dee
Written by Winfield Scott
Recorded by Teresa Brewer
Released as a single, 1955
I’m as happy as can be:

I don’t know the singer, but I know the song. Reminds me of the scene in Uncle Buck, when he is making breakfast for the kids, and that song is playing on the radio. Fun tune!

I think her biggest hit was “Music! Music! Music” in the early 50s. Lost on a lot of people since the 70s or so.

I don't think it's the Theresa Brewer version that I remember.

I’m guessing Georgia Gibbs’ version?

She was a teenager when she started. She never lost that powerhouse voice of hers.
