Where Have I Been?

It's warming up and I have been getting a bit more active. Yesterday I rode with my husband to Baton Rouge for his follow up appointment with his diabetes doctor. He got a good checkup and was told to keep reducing his insulin as he has been doing in the past year. He had that set back with the stupid doctor prescribing medicine that raises your blood sugar and that really took him a couple of months to get back on track. I'm happy to see that he is continuing in the right direction and has a doctor that is helping him. He takes less than half of a dose of insulin in the mornings from prescribed dose and rarely has to take any at night. He still has his weekly long-acting medication that he takes one time a week. After that we went to pick up a few things at Ollie's since we don't have one around here and then went to eat at Mr. Gatti's Pizza. What did you have for dinner last night? You're such a good wife to go along with him to his doctor's appointment. We had pizza for supper last night also, but it was a take out meal, we love eating fresh pizza at home.

I have to, because he doesn't remember to ask questions that he wants answered or he forgets what the dr. tells him. Or both!

Glad the diabetes is under control, pity about the doctor's medication choice. I settled for a quiche with chips and beans, with bread and butter on the side. Keep it simple, I say!

Diabetes can be difficult to control. Thankfully Vince only has Type 2 and it doesn't cause him any trouble.

My husband has Type 2 also but has a lot of low sugar crashes. It's been a challenge learning how to make him eat right to maintain a good level.

@JudyEv Mine doesn't want to adhere to a strict diet. I have finally gotten him to accept when he wants to splurge he needs to eat better before and after the splurge. And they can't be every day.

@kareng I don't really understand why Vince doesn't have much trouble with his diabetes. He gets a bit nauseous if he has too much sugar but that's about all.

I had chicken veggie soup and some potatoes for dinner, with apples and peppermint hot chocolate for dessert. So thankful that his blood sugar is getting back to normal!

That is why we went there after doctor visit. We don't have any really good ones around us in Mississippi.
