Cut or uncut?

I was brought up believing, as many were and still are, that cut was always to be preferred over uncut. Now I’m not so sure.
I’m talking about lawns and other grassy areas here, and I have made the decision to refrain from cutting my three small lawns in the future. There’s really no need. No-one will be playing tennis or cricket on my lawns, mowing is noisy and injurious to insects, I don’t want to alarm my delicate back, and anyway who cares? Some men are clean shaven, others sport big, shaggy beards and either is acceptable.
So my grassy areas are going to become bulb gardens and one will be sown with poppies and cornflowers, and I’ll spend the time saved mowing just sitting in the middle of the glorious, chaotic loveliness feeling good about myself.

You live in a place that doesn't have mowing ordinances in place. I can let my back yard grow but have to keep the front and sides of the lawn cut.
Good for you! I hope you enjoy it.
