I took a survey the other day that was trying to ascertain how many text abbreviations you know. I am sure we are all familiar with BRB, BTW, LOL, etc. What about AFAIK, as far as I know. or FTW for the win, or TBh to be honest. Think about how many you know. As for me I will BBIAB. Be back in a bit

I know a lot of text abbreviations but rarely use them unless I'm texting with somebody who does... My 18 year old Filipino friend uses abbreviations a lot. Most other people don't.

It really depends who you are talking to, but like you said it is mostly youngsters who use a lot of them

@snowy22315 Yup, yup! They're also the ones who use "new" words and make me ask for a translation the first time they use them, too. (My friend laughs, then explains what the "new" words mean in that particular context.)

It depends on who I am texting with whether I use any or not.

Those are the more common ones. I didn't know the AFAIK though until yesterday. You should have seen this study there were probably 80 abbreviations on the page. I wonder how many of them really get used? Unless you are a kid, it isn't too likely you are communicating in text speak.

I didn’t know AFAIK, but I do know a few unfortunate ones I’d never use.

Not sure I know any unfortunate ones unless it is just letter skipping. Or not limited to text. I know a few of those .Most of the ones I know are just short cut phrases.
