I Can't Observe Fast

I eat only once a day. No breakfast; no lunch. Only dinner is enough for me to live a healthy and happy life But I have observed one thing If someone who I can't disobey; asks me to observe a fast; I begin feeling hungry. I sleep at around 12 30 at night; but if asked to keep awake at night; I begin feeling sleepy even before 9 p.m. Perhaps I can't "tolerate" or " put up with" anything imposed on me

I don't think anyone likes things imposed or forced upon them. As for fasting , if I go more than say 6 hours without eating I call that fasting. I need 4 meals per day to be happy. Sometimes 3 is enough but any less than 3 is a no go.

A time was when I used to eat four or even five times everyday. But now I can't eat more than once. In our culture; fasting means fasting for the whole day. We celebrate a festival called "Teej".It falls in August or September. On that day married women observe fast. The fast begins from the dawn and lasts till the dawn the next day. They don't even drink water during those 24 house.

@Ineeddentures Yes; they don't even take a drop of water; let alone food; for 24 hours.

@Shivram59 No water for 24 hours must be very hard to adhere to. Not sure that I could do that.

Since you're in a culture where disobeying is a no-no, your body tries to rebell because its our nature.

@Shivram59 Because when you're told "no", your body feels like it's being denied something. So, it tells you how it feels by making you hungry.

May be. In our Hindu culture we are supposed to obey our elders. But if that's the reason; I should observe a fast if my elders ask me for it. I don't know why I start feeling hungry.

Is your dinner a large meal? Does your dinner hour stretch out?

That's funny isn't it? I like to have full meal on a fasting day.

I admit it is funny if I'm obligated to observe fast; I start feeling hungry.Otherwise I can easily go without food for the whole day..I wonder why it happens; but it does happen
