A Bit About Cats

Cats are such interesting animals—unlike dogs in every way. They are mysterious and individualistic to the core. I began compiling some of what I found to be interesting information about these creatures, and thought perhaps you would enjoy reading what I found. There is a magical set of cats, known as "fairy cats" in Celtic folklore. In Ireland, they are known as cait sadhe(seen as a large black cat with a white spot on it's heart.) In Scotland, cait sithand in Gaelic they are caugh shee. They are thought of as fairies, spirit creatures that take the form of cats-- even witches in some instances. The most mischievous cat breed is known to be the Devon Rex. Small to medium in size, it has a pixie appearance with large eyes, prominent cheekbones, and low-set, rounded ears. They are very cuddly and affectionate. They are usually solid black, white, grey, or brown in color. The red and cream colored ones may have a tabby appearance as they age. Cats in modern witchcraft are often seen as spiritual guides or protectors. They are believed to enhance magical practices with their mere presence. They have a connection to the spirit world and are seen as symbols of protection, healing, and intuition. They are associated with magic and good fortune. Lavender is toxic to cats. Whether in oil essence form or plant ingested it can cause gastrointestinal upset, lethargy, and liver damage in serious cases. The picture is from fishsubsidy.org
