Onwards and upwards always

It is around 5 or 6 weeks since I left my last place of work. It was quite a daunting experience, but I am coming to terms with it now. I didn’t think it would hit me so hard, but the realisation of what I had done took some getting used to.
I feel I have more control now over my life. I am not bound by work hours, and I can go to work as and when I choose.
There are some downsides. My pay is very poor, and the work is unpredictable at times. On the plus side I have more control over my workload when it comes in, and I am paid for results and not responsible for carrying others who don’t pull their weight.
It will take time, but I will improve at my new job.

One of the best jobs I had, which is the one I had before I retired, was performance based entirely, and it really paid off. When you can be in control of how much you can make, it's really motivating. It was an uphill climb, of course, but eventually you get there. Onward and upward.
