Days of impecunity.

Doesn’t it feel so good to be able to climb into bed at the end of a hard day, into a warm, comfortable, safe bed with clean sheets? The windows are fully glazed and there is no chance of rats, snakes or ne’er-do-wells creeping up on you. Nor will a police patrol spot you as they cruise by and move you on into the cold, wet night. And you’re well fed. I’m blessed with these comforts now, but I do miss the nights I slept on park benches, behind shops, in derelict buildings, outhouses, train stations and beach huts. And it was always in winter. That’s how I travelled back in my days of impecunity, back in the 70s when the world was a different place, and I remembered it tonight as I slipped between clean sheets, bringing to mind the bitter coldness when my feet refused to warm up for days on end. What hardships from your past would you not tolerate now?

I can't imagine being homeless in the winter time. I hate the cold. I'm glad you are safe and sound in a warm home now.

Cold showers were never tolerated by me! Clean sheets are just SOOO nice.

@judyev A shower of any temperature was a welcome boon in those days. And a toilet with a nice seat.

Well I was homeless for a while when I came out of the Army. Slept in a tent near a beach and beside a fruit farm I found work on. Actually it was good fun and maybe explains my love of all things camping now. I even pitched up with Yvonne and told her this was where and how I lived. Not sure being homeless was a hardship - I had no bills and a very good wage. If I had to do it again I could quite easily. Using newspaper in the bog , not sure I could afford the newspaper now.
