My Northern Lights Experience

As I read @TheHorse 's post, I remembered back to a time when my daughter was probably around 9 or 10(This was about 45 years ago). She and I had gone to one of my friends' parties. A Mary Kay one, maybe, or home decor, something like that. There were about eight other women there, and we were having a great time. The hostess had made a delicious spiked punch made of lime sherbet, Seven-Up, and a little Vodka. She had also made my daughter some of the virgin variety.
So, we were all having a grand time checking out the product, laughing, and having a good time. At one point, one of us noticed that my daughter was sneaking sips out of our drinks when we weren't looking. Yes, she got a little tipsy.
At the end of the party, I packed up my tipsy little girl and we headed out to the car. My friend's apartment was up on a hill, and you had a great view of the evening sky. That night, the sky was unusually bright with few stars. But a beautiful ribbon of green and purple was billowing across the sky. It was the Northern Lights! We were all astounded. I don't think any of us had seen them before. We had never had this happen in our neck of the woods anyway. Not Boise, Idaho. It was beautiful!
After discussing the phenomenon for a few minutes, my daughter and I are going down Harrison Boulevard, which is a popular street with many beautiful homes and a lot of traffic. My daughter starts ranting and yelling out the open window about our cat that hadn't come home before we left. Her light concern then had become a torrent of emotion now.
So, here we are going down this popular thoroughfare at about 11 p.m. with my tipsy little girl yelling about her lost cat out the window. It's a wonder a policeman didn't pull us over.
I was stricken at the time, but later it was a funny story to tell.

It is spectacle you would not soon forget. All the color and the stars. It's rather bright as I recall.

Great story. They seldom make it here and I usually don't feel like staying up to see them if they do

They are spectacular to behold. I'm glad you enjoyed the story. I was afraid folks would think I was abusing my daughter.

She and I have had our adventures down through the years. I share the stories from time to time.

That's a really great story to tell.
Does your daughter remember that night like you do.
And does she drink Vodka these days?
