Another summer, some mango pickle.....

Good afternoon from this side of the planet.
It's 3:40 PM and generally I would be napping at this time. But today, I am not. Anyways, I have no therapy sessions to take care of for coming one month, so, I can stay relaxed. Even if I feel tired, I can drag through rest of the day and retire early to bed or just take a 20 minutes power nap after an hour here. I will take my call in some time. Right now, I don't want to just lie down.
Summer is here. And the best part of the season is mangoes, the king of fruits. 
. Market is getting flooded with the varieties. We are getting both ripened and sweet ones to relish as dessert or use it for different dishes. And we are also getting raw ones for pickles and Chutneys. Yesterday I got some raw ones. We already had sweet ripened Alphanso and Mallika. Today I made these pickles that you see in the picture from the raw ones. I had washed them and sun dried them to have no moisture. Well, this work took me long than a hour, it's a lot of preparation with spices and all. And since we keep it stored for an year or more, it has to be well dried for a long shelf life. My husband and I tasted a bit. It has turned out really well with taste, but the mangoes need to soften a bit. That will happen in few days with all the salt, spices and oil. Plus, I will be keeping it for sun dry a few days.
That was one productive part of my day other than the regular chores.
I need to clean the fridge, check and arrange pantry and then order for the monthly grocery. I will do it in the evening after my tea.

Yes, they are absolute favourite and most Indians just love it. Adds that extra flavour to every meal.

I am not for pickles The only pickle I made recently was Ber pickle which is sweet.
It was an ordinary day and all the routine was done well

@allknowing It's the different dals mixed and cooked with rice., something like bisi bell baath in Karnataka. We add loads of veggies ( personal choice) but not tangy tamarind like in bisi belle bath.

I will take them sometimes with paratha and khichdi. I am more into fresh chutneys. But my husband's meal is incomplete without pickle.
Sweet ber pickle sounds yummy...I like sweet pickles too.

Every Indian household keeps pickles as side dish and to enhance the taste of any meal. We have varieties of them, mango pickles are the most popular one. They too come in many varieties.
Getting up from a nap is definitely a good start to the day. You feel refreshed and rejuvenated. Hope that the rest of the day too went good for you

Last week I had one or two appointments per day. Got a lot accomplished. This week I just have one appointment on Friday to get a headstone for our burial plots.

Just got home after a full day of errands — paying bills, doing the grocery, and everything in between. I’m exhausted, so now I’m just resting and scrolling through myLot. I love mango pickles! I make them myself — sometimes the simple kind soaked in salt brine, other times the sweet version.
