It's a Funny Thing About People Who Clean Up After Themselves at Restaurants

Hubby and I are neat freaks to the max. Plus we're very helpful, so we think. So at restaurants, we stack the plates, wipe off the table, and put everything back where it goes before we pay the bill and leave. My friends think we're weird. Okay, whatever. Then I was scrolling through my Google Feed yesterday and found an article, "People Who Always Clean Up After Themselves at Restaurants Usually Display These 7 Unique Behaviors," so naturally I had to click on the article and read more. According to the author of the article, people who do like my husband and I do show these seven attributes: 1. Respect for others' space 2. Consciousness of Actions 3. Self-discipline 4. Detail-oriented 5. High emotional intelligence 6. Demonstrated Responsibility 7. Don't Concern Themselves With the Opinions of Others Okay, those are very nice things. No negatives ones highlighted among them. Hubby and I have been offered jobs and restaurants and thanked hundreds of times for how to stack the plates and clean things up. How do you leave the table when you leave the restaurant?

We are very neat when we eat at home or out. We never have to stack the dishes unless we have wait staff that is slow to come along and take our plates away as they should. Our table is always left neat and tidy otherwise, we are not messy eaters.

We tend to stack. Separate table ware, and put trash if there is any to the side. Probably not as extremely neat as you and your hubby, but also definitely not the slobs some people are.

@looeyville I applaud you and hubby as I’m sure all restaurant staff do. I’d hate to be thought of as someone who just doesn’t care, and wait staff are usually run off their feet and always low paid. It’s good to lighten their load.

We always stack the plates; and I have a tendency to clean up any dirty spots on the table.

I don't go to such extremes. Hey, being cleaned up after is part of the reason I pay more for my meal than what it would cost if I cooked it myself. At the same time, I don't go out of my way to be a complete, ignorant slob.

I mostly clean up after myself at cafes and coffee shops. Restaurants are quick to collect plates etc
