Roaming about Kangaroo Island in Australia and having the time of her life Valerie was not thinking of going back to her owners. For 529 days she had been in South Australia and finally the Kangala Wildlife Rescue was able to capture the doggy and get her back to her owners. Yes, even after being wild and free she is back to adjusting being a pet. Valerie got lost during a camping holiday back in November 2023. The island Valerie roamed is home to about 5,000 people and a 45-minute ferry ride from the mainland. The doggy was hiding in thick bush and interacting with the native wildlife. It took a T-shirt her owner wore in 12-hour shifts to make Valerie realize the scent of home and finally get lured into a cage.

@RasmaSandra It's interesting that it was able to survive so long. I guess its instincts kicked in.

@RasmaSandra She is an adorable looking dog. We had neighbours at one point that had 2 of those dogs, and they were so mean and vicious, they were raised to be that way, and would bark and growl every time they went outside.

Nice to know that a Dachshund who was missing for more than a year was found safe and sound.

That's a long time for a poor doggy to be on her own.

Thank you for saying it right, its Doggy, all though I say Doggie, its not Doggo. Just preference, doggy sounds much cooler than Doggo. What a neat story and dogs so happy, hard not to root for them.

@jstory07 but you have to admit she took all that as an adventure, If she had let any of the people there see her I am sure someone would have called the animal rescue,
