On my canal amble I saw this weird looking boat. I was fairly certain it used to be a lifeboat from a North Sea Oil Rig and a quick search online proved that was the case.
Normally bright orange these lifeboats/lifepods are sold on from decommissioned oil rigs or company insolvency sales and these sales seem to regularly.
This one is about 40 feet long(12 metres), but they do come in a smaller size of around 16 feet (5 metres). They are motorised and able to make their way to shore.
Now I’ve read that these boats are verging on the unsinkable and considering how many sunk boats I’ve seen lately, this good be just the job!

@Ronrybs When I first starting seeing these in England and Ireland, I didn't realise some of them didn't go anywhere. I kept wondering how the pot plants didn't fall over when they were 'sailing'. Of course, it's not like they're on the sea either.

Never have seen this type of lifeboats before. The selling point of them is that they are all but unsinkable .

It does look very strange but I guess you do want to be enclosed if you're in rough enough seas that you'd need to evacuate from an offshore oil rig.
You see a lot of interesting things on your canal walks.

@Ronrybs That would quickly be my favorite place to take a walk.

@DaddyEvil Yes, people are fascinating. You also get a lot of families walking as well as cyclists
