Took my walk and went to see how the sunk boat is faring. It has been emptied out of rubbish, but is still full of water. I guess getting it afloat again is a bit of a poser. Certainly, I have no idea how to go about it. Still pretty sure it was a victim of vandals.
DaddyEvil and I had a quick discussion about the importance of drinking plenty and keeping hydrated. As it was a hot day, and as luck would have it, there is an excellent pub only a few hundred yards further along, so off I popped for a cold orange juice.
This pub is known for its food. I have only eaten a fish finger sandwich there, but that gets my recommendation.

I watched a boat being raised in a river near here years ago. I don't know if it's the same there, but they had a bunch of inner tubes that they put in strategic sites inside the boat and filled them with air and it slowly came up. Once the boat was as high as they could get it, they started pumping the water out until it was completely empty. Then they took it to a dock and pulled it out and took it to a warehouse and started working on it.
A glass of orange juice is always welcome to wet the whistle on a hot day.

@Ronrybs I'm not sure but that might just be for smaller boats. I'm sure it's expensive raising even the small boats. Please carry your camera with you in case you spot something else interesting through there.

I’m fascinated by the narrowboats in England, and people living on them. I was thinking it was a rarity, but seeing all the narrowboats in the background of your photos I’m starting to think it’s common.
I like the name of that pub, “Malt Shovel.”

Narrow boating is very popular. Lots of people live on them full time. In London there is Little Venice which is basically a floating town. It used to be cheap to live on a narrow boat, not so much nowadays. In the summer boating holidays are also popular. there are two hiring marinas within a couple of miles of me

@Ronrybs — that stands to reason. Anything that starts as a “cost-cutting measure” and catches on suddenly becomes expensive. The “tiny house” movement in the US was initially very cheap, and now those 120 sq.ft. houses can cost more than I paid for my 850 sq.ft. house!!

@FourWalls Good grief, I heard about house prices, but that is something else!
