Spring is here – oh no it isn’t – oh yes it is!

Honestly we are having funny weather here. April was very dry and quite warm, no sign of the traditional April showers. The first of May was the hottest ‘since records began’ (although nationwide records only began in 1914) so it was a glorious May morning celebration! Then just as people were getting their shorts and bikinis out (yes, some people in bikinis were actually seen getting on a bus!) the weather turned cold again – and not just a bit cooler but really cold. I had to unpack a pair of woolly tights to wear at my desk, and we were all back to going out in coats and scarves and gloves! Now we seem to have reached a sort of medium. Warmish and a bit dull. It often looks like rain, but no rain is coming. Rather a surprise really after we had SUCH a wet start to the year. At least the spring flowers are still appearing to cheer us all up. I think their timings depend more on day length and at least that hasn’t changed! Picture shows the cowslips that are gradually taking the baton from the primroses in our garden.
