Yesterday was a marathon.

I was tired and almost grumpy by the time I got home yesterday.
For two straight days, we have had no "Lessons Lead," the person who schedules lessons, prints out papers we might need, gives us our schedules, etc.
I guess he was sick. The Back-up Lead was also not there, and the Store Manager did not step in to help us out.
Net result: I had no idea what my schedule was, could not get staff paper if I needed it, and had to take things moment by moment.
By the time I was done, at 8:40 PM, I was "gassed." I bought a small bottle of Scotch on the way home, was too tired to do a MyLot post, and fell asleep with my Collings guitar next to me. Kitty did remind me to give her a bedtime snack.
Happily, the lessons themselves went well. I'll talk about my young friend Jonathan (he is turning ten, I think) in a separate post. I am doing a piece with him I have never done with a student before. I started a teenage boy on Children's Dance, the difficult Alex DeGrassi guitar tune I may have linked a few posts ago. And I got to improvise with Eva, the girl I sometimes think is a tad depressed.
Today I get to teach Gunnar, my rowdy red-haired guitar boy who is learning Stevie Ray's Pride and Joy. That should be fun.
Have you ever had days at work that turned into marathons? I hope we have someone at the lessons desk today.

I'm glad you made it home okay and didn't get too grumpy with Kitty... I'm sure she appreciated that, too.
Oh, yeah, some days it seemed like the customers were deliberately trying to make things more difficult and some days the other associates made the days seem LONG before my shift was done.

@TheHorse I'm sure it does... At least you weathered it, though.

@DaddyEvil I am actually involved in that area of psychology research. If we can't have "control," at least let us have some level of "predictability." I don't need my evening cortisol levels going through the roof.

I feel like most days end up like that.

@kaylachan Well, I could disagree, but I don't have the time. I'll just say, "We set the table for our next meal." Heh. Hopefully today will be better.

I'm sorry you didn't have your usual help. Every day it s**wed at Morton Salt was a marathon day. I worked 12 hours a day during those times.
