This Thursday feels like a Monday

This morning actually started off pretty great. We took the kids to Starbucks, which felt like a fun little outing—until I saw the total and realized I’d apparently taken out a small loan just to caffeinate the family. I don’t remember Starbucks being that expensive back when I was drinking it in middle and high school. Either prices went up, or I just didn’t notice because I wasn’t the one paying for it. Anyway, we were riding high on our overpriced lattes—until the universe had other plans. As soon as we dropped her off at school and headed to our next stop, the truck made a horrendous noise. Like, a shuddering, shaking, knocking-from-under-the-hood kind of noise. It sounded like the engine was either falling apart or auditioning for a horror movie. We managed to crawl it over to the parts store. They plugged in the code reader and said it might be a spark plug issue… or maybe something worse. Like something inside the engine worse. Their advice? Don’t mess with it—get it looked at professionally before we make it worse. So we had to call my mother-in-law, who thankfully came to the rescue. We all piled into her car, drove back to the house, dropped her off, then headed to his uncle’s house to grab the trailer. Back to town again to pick up the truck from the parts store, and finally back home. Now Chris is out in the yard, tearing into the truck to see if it’s something simple or if we’re about to hand over a kidney to a mechanic. And just to put the cherry on top of this chaotic day? The pharmacy only had one week’s worth of my medication ready, which means I get to make another trip next week. Because why not. So yeah—cross your fingers for us. Hoping it’s an easy fix and the truck doesn’t end up in the shop… or in flames.
