My country, Kenya recently introduced a new feature on its citizens National Identification Cards; Expiry dates. The card has also been given a new name "Maisha Digital ID" 'Maisha' is a swahili word for "life". New holders have a validity period of 10 years after which renewal must be done by the holder. Although many have found the mover rather foreign and arguable, a better number of subjects are comfortable with it since it is likely to reduce cases of fraud, where IDs of people who died many decades ago have been used to register mobile SIM cards and even used to transact. Does your National ID Card bear an expiry date?

@SIDIKIMPOLE - Most European countries have a National ID that expires after a given number of years.

@SIDIKIMPOLE We need to renew ours every 10 years, a new recent photo is also needed. Should we move and our address change, we must go within three months so a new one with the correct address is issued.

We do not have a National ID card.
It was talked about a few years back but as far as I know nothing happened to deliver it to us all.

What makes you identify with your country, I mean how does one know your nationality?

@SIDIKIMPOLE
That's a really good question.
I suppose our Driving licenses are one form of ID we use.
Other than that I am unsure
Must look into why ID cards never happened

@SIDIKIMPOLE We don't have these. We have drivers licence which has our photo on it and there are photo cards for those who don't drive. We also have 'proof of age' cards.
