There is never a day when my pantry has no onions. It is a must in most of our cuisine. Today I used it to make the mango curry
As kids mother used to buy them by the loads and hang them in the kitchen. Those onions had the dead lives stuck to them. She woud weave them in a plait and tha tis how she was able to hang them This was necessary as in the rainy season there were no onions stored in shops.
The onion in the photo is the largest I have ever seen. Such sizes I notice are available in the US

The onions I buy here are stored in nylon sacks and I set them on a glass table in the corner of my kitchen until I use them up. Usually, a dozen medium sized onions last around two weeks for us. I like to keep a bowl of diced onions and a bowl of sliced onions in the fridge ready for use.

You will have to cover those diced onions as their smell will spread all over in the fridge.

Onions were woven when I was a child. Now we buy them in plastic bags. O prefer to buy the smaller ones as I live alone.

@allknowing The really big ones get lost here unless I have a barbecue.

There are different sizes of onions available in the market and we buy depending on what kind of dish we are going to prepare. But we usually buy the small one because it has a longer life span.

I normally go for th medium size as I feel the smaller ones are a bit tender

I agree with you on that. Onions will always be part of every recipe. I never run out of them.
