Thoreau to the tune of Grecian rain.

It rained this afternoon after a close and torrid morning. Welcome rain, that washed down the streets and left the air feeling sweet and fresh. It had the added effect of chasing people into their houses and they didn’t come out again even when it stopped so our evening meal was enjoyed (yes, I ENJOYED it) in an almost empty esthitorio on the sea front. Sitting in the house for a few hours waiting for the rain to stop was delicious. The great heat was dissipated and the rhythm was tuneful. We watched it for a while looking out across our rooftop balcony pictured above, then I continued with Henry David Thoreau’s “Walden”. How I wish I’d read this a long time time ago. I find myself constantly stopping to consider what I’ve just read.

What a lovely place to sit - once it stops raining.

That sounds like such a beautiful moment—the kind that stays with you. The way you described the rain and the quiet after it, with that rooftop view, feels so peaceful and refreshing. Looks like you’ve found the perfect spot to slow down and really take things in.
