My 8th period class is my favorite and they know it. They occasionally get away with things that I wouldn't allow in other classes. It is what it is. I'm only human. Today I had the video playing for the students to view but one of them came up to me and around the lab bench to ask about something. She saw that I was looking at bathing suits on J. Crew. She suggested Shein. I told her that I wasn't interested in cheapo Chinese crap. I had the video playing and went out the back door of the room to chat with my work BFF who was on bathroom duty. They know that I am always watching them and correcting them. It isn't like I am not around or aware of their behavior. . . well except the girl who was looking at my swimsuit options. By the end of class she had an accomplice, they created a Shein wishlist for me, and loaded it up based on what they thought I would like based on my daily fashion choices. In general I am totally over my job but every now and then they do make me genuinely laugh.

We know who watches the students, and now I guess we know who watches the teachers!

this gave me a good laugh—gotta love those moments that remind you why you do it. And yeah, I’ve heard some things about Shein and their labor practices, especially how they mass-produce everything so fast and cheap. Not sure how much of it is fully verified, but it definitely makes me pause when I see how low their prices are. Still, your students putting together a wishlist for you based on your style? That’s actually kind of adorable.

That sounds like a fun group of kids. I’m also applauding anyone who eschews Shein (and Temu).

They think they know what you need better than what you like yourself,
