A strange start to the day.

I sacked out a bit earlier than I wanted to, son hadn't been very well yesterday, and I had a migraine most of the day. Neither one of us could sleep well so we were up and down. At about 4:15AM, a loud vehicle pulled into my driveway--sounded like a truck, but the door camera picked it up and it was an ambulance. Well, we didn't call one. Somehow they got the address wrong, and were supposed to be across the street. They were there for quite some time, and brought someone out. There is a single lady who lives there alone that I don't know well. I heard today the ambulance was called for her brother, who was visiting. He passed away, had a heart attack at her home in the night. I feel badly for her and the family, he is only in his 40's. Then there were 2 policemen going door to door about 9AM. They found a body floating in a small lake about 2 blocks away, and were trying to ''account for all the people in the area'' as they felt it was someone local? Weird. Weird and strange start to the day. Oh, and we may get some wild weather later today, tornados, hail, whatever gets sent.... I would like to think we have had enough drama for one day, for a quiet neighborhood. Time will tell!

Her brother was her only family as she lost her husband several years ago. Her brother has children but they were not there with him when this happened. I feel badly for her. A very hard thing to go through.

There have been several cars at her home that I assume are close friends or some type of family member, evidently they are helping her. I took a big chicken casserole over there, and two loaves of homemade bread. I figured whatever I took, everyone there will be eating it so I better make it big. I know when we have had deaths in the family, food provided by friends and family helped a lot.

@rakski I honestly didn't mind. People should try to help each other when they can. My grandmothers both always stressed if a neighbor, or friend or whoever you felt inclined to try to help had a loss, you took food. So I've always done that.

@sallypup Yes, in a way it did. I was just sad about the two deaths so close by, I think.

@MarieCoyle A neighbour of ours went quickly like that many years ago . He was extremely fit, used to run marathons and had a swimming pool in his garden, but had a heart attack and went !

@Traceyjayne It does happen to many who make the effort to be fit and healthy, not as often as the ones that neglect their health, but it does happen. It did come as a shock to everyone since he was so young still.

Yes, he was. And from what I heard, he was considered to be very healthy, and a weightlifter. I guess we never know.

@Dreamerby I have some health problems...it seems many of us here do. Those darn migraines...I do not like to take medicine that puts me in a trance. I hate that. Besides, I have to care for my son who is ill, and if I am medicated too much, I just can't do that. It's a choice I have to make sometimes.

This migraine has followed me around for days now...off and on, over and over. I almost wish it WOULD storm, often it seems to have a lot to do with atmospheric pressure. My son got worried about my very elderly and rather feeble neighbor, Dale. I had just checked on him yesterday and took him some dinner, I had made chicken and noodles and he loves those. He was OK but just resting on the couch...but sometimes he is so forgetful that our entire neighborhood worries about him. He has outlived nearly his entire family, and those that are left are not able to see about him. So when I heard about the body in the lake, I casually went over there with some cookies, to be sure he was OK and reassure my son, and also myself, that it wasn't him in the lake. He was fine, thank goodness. Thanks for the good wishes.

It's still way over 90 outside, and we are under a tornado watch until 10. We shall see....we will hunker! Thanks, sweet friend!

It does make a person wonder who it is, and why he was floating in a lake. Scary, for sure. A kayaker found him early this morning.

How awful; and he was so young. I don't care for a lot of drama in my life.
