Reading progress for 2025

I checked my Goodreads reading progress for 2025 and it says that I’ve read 25 books so far this year. Once I finish The Bonfire of the Vanities it will be 26. My goal for this year is 77 books, though I was hoping to end it with 80. My progress says that I need to read three books to be on track. To me it seems like I’m way behind. I’m not even halfway to my goal and almost half a year has passed. Next on my reading list are four Russian books my mom gave me that she wants me to read. They are by the same author. She said it doesn’t matter the order I read them in. I will try one book and if I won’t have issues reading it I will do the other three. Russian is my native language but I don’t usually read Russian books.

Interesting! I didn't know Goodreads showed how many books we've read. I always look at my Kindle app and check the Reading Challenges tab to see how many books I've read. It has always been annoying to me that they count anthologies as a single book. I've just finished one anthology that had 20 books in it but Kindle says it was only 1 book. Kindle says I've read 22 books this year even though most of those are anthologies. *shrug* I hope you enjoy the Russian books your mom gave you.

I always thought an anthology is one book but it has a collection of items in it like poetry, short stories, etc. Had no idea it can also be many books.

@lovebuglena That CAN be how an anthology is set up but the ones I've been reading are full novels by different authors in one ebook. I just tell Amazon I was to read books about something and it shows me everything it has with that subject in it. I just choose anthologies... The book I'm talking about had 20 novels in it about witches/witchcraft. One of the books sucked but the rest were really good.

@lovebuglena Goodreads automatically adds the books I'm planning to read when I download them from Amazon and then counts them as done when I finish the book in the Kindle app. I don't have to do anything else. I didn't know it would keep count of the number of books I've finished reading. I rarely go in and look at anything on Goodreads. I signed up for it years and years ago.

I hope you do. I was on a roll first three months I think and then I slowed down. I should be way more than 26 books into my reading goal by now.

It sounds like you are doing very well. I wish I read as much as I used to. I just can’t seem to get my mind to focus.

Seems to me like I’m way behind even though I’m doing fine according to Goodreads.

I haven't even finished one this year. I have a stack of magazines to read too.

You’ve got plenty of time still to read a book.
