The people that bought the house next to Moms have just smashed her fence.
They were knocking out some bricks and a huge boulder type thing fell with an almighty bang !!!
Next thing i knew I heard my Mom saying ...Look at my fence .....
I went into the kitchen and saw that two panels of our fence had been knocked clean out.
My Mom was clearly very distressed so I went out to have a word with them, to make them aware and also remind them to be more careful.
I had to call them several times to make them come over to me as they could clearly see me but were trying to ignore me.
I tried explaining but there English is very limited .....or seemed that way at that moment in time .....
No sorry .....
Just told me the bricks are heavy ...
A five minute ' chat ' happened and i came inside and rang the new owner to make her aware....
She did say she was sorry and would arrange for the fence to be replaced.....
I hope she is a woman of her word .....
My Mom is 87 now and usually lives alone so she can do without this sort of stress.

You did well to make the new neighbors aware of what they had done. Good that they said sorry and promised to repair the damage. I have had some unpleasant experience with one of them. Some neighbors don't apologise and on the contrary begin to quarrel.

My Mom has lived in this house for 50 years and has never had a disagreement with any of the neighbours. The new owners came round and introduced themselves and she says they seem nice. I am hoping they will do as they say and replace the fence .....

That's unfortunate. I read that the men moved to work elsewhere.

Glad the neighbour promised to repair the fence and yes she should keep to her word

Well look, what can I say.
It's really difficult to get native English speaking trades people these days.
And soon if they stop immigration the way Starmer wants to, we won't be able to get a trades person at all
