Another plane crash?

Another American plane has gone down, this one near a military base in San Diego CA. It sounds like the residents on the ground, mostly military families, were incredibly supportive of each other.
I will be looking for details about what caused the crash, as I am interested in how maintenance issues, poor communication, and cost-cutting can contribute to small- and large-scale disasters.

One of the deceased is reportedly the former drummer in the "Christian Metalcore" band The Devil Wears Prada.

@TheHorse — I’ve only heard of them because they have the same name as a movie. Prada is some super-expensive clothing store (their website says men’s swimming trunks are $850, for instance).
