Well, as promised, it’s time for a song, and I’m at Mark’s Feed Store…just not the one that was in the discussion last night. I have to get another pickup at the Amazon drop off/pickup place today, so I might as well eat here while waiting for the package! While waiting I’ll take you back 50 years to 1975. Let’s dance!
#9: Right Back Where We Started From - Maxine Nightingale
You might think I’m cheating a little here, and I probably am.
This was released in the UK (Maxine Nightingale is British) in 1975, but didn’t get released in the US until the very end of 1975, putting it solely on the 1976 charts. So sue me. I’m too busy dancing to this to care.
For the record, Nightingale (yes, real name) is NOT a one-hit wonder. She also had a hit in 1979 with “Lead Me On” (no relation to the Conway Twitty/Loretta Lynn song).
This was part of the diverse fun of that great year.

@Orson_Kart — thanks. This has become a running joke (more like crawling at my age
).

Don’t you have a pool to stay away from because it’s too cool?

Oh yes baby!!
I remember Maxine right enough.
I would have been 15 years old and I thought she was a sexy lady.
Hard to believe it's 50 years ago.
She is 72 now so would have been about 22 in 1975.

Yes, she was pretty then! Hope she’s doing well and still performing if she wants to.

I remember this song, but I’d have had it down as a one-hit wonder. The other song must have bombed here?

It’s funny how those things happen, isn’t it. Wikipedia has her other hit in the UK as being “Love Hit Me,” which peaked at #11 on the British charts (and didn’t chart at all here).

That’s okay. My favorites, not “everyone should love this” favorites. (With a few exceptions, of course.

I’m the other way around: I don’t think I’ve ever heard “Lead Me On.”
