Or in my birth place. I decided to visit them and yesterday, a first day there was a local instrumental concert; a tambur concert. Today will be a thing called the longest table where people will eat a lot of foods on each food stand for a certain price, tambur concert in the evening too and tomorrow, the last day, many folklore associations or folklore dance and singing groups will present their customs through their clothes, dance and singing.
I always loved the third day and i witnessed it as an early primary school child but i wasn't a part of a folklore dance group, like some of my colleagues also, those clothes were really heavy to wear, too many layers and so many decorations in your hair so it is nice being a bystander.
I wish you a nice weekend and don't forget your roots even though some people can be against it.
P.s. an online image of our local folklore association.

Sounds like a nice celebration. My parents never talked about life in Italy.

@grenery8 I can't remember which is which. One came over when they were 2...the other when they were 16.

Sounds like a wonderful time together.
I have always been reminded to be proud of my heritage (roots) and try to instill that same fondness in our grandchildren. It is good to know where we come from, and to maintain the strength of it going forward in a more modern world.

i went with my sister and mum. my father stayed home; maybe he was too tired or he was afraid to see old faces, it's hard to tell what he's introverted nature is sometimes trying to tell but we gals enjoyed it. i bought a sugar foam and shared it with sister though one foam for 3 dollars, i wasn't expect it.
thank you and and i agree, we should install it and carry it on, especially in today's half messy world
