My Mother's Birthday

@RasmaSandra Oh OK, I just hadn't heard of it. They were refugees then. A friend of mine is German and lived there off and on as a kid. She has no accent though.Her father or grandfather not sure which got in trouble because he would not support Hitler. Luckily, he had done some work for an Austrian prince that got him out of trouble.

@snowy22315 my parents had to flee their homeland Latvia during WW II. They wound up living in Germany in Displaced Persons Camps until they could come to the New World,

@Marilynda1225 Thank you you should have seen her in an evening gown, My parents were very sociable in Latvian society in NYC Yes, they leave us but keep watch over us, My mom and dad in the glasses out at a ball.

@Ineeddentures I am sorry to hear that. If you don't miss her then it is for the best, I got lucky when my mom passed my mother-in-law became like my second mom, Now I miss them both. Funny how it goes they both had birthdays on different dates in May and they both passed in different years in March,

@jstory07 as I have been mentioning with all the troubles of WW II they look like they don't have a worry in the world, I would have been a mess, It was their love for each other that gave them the strength to go on,

@rakski she was lovely and always looked ten years younger.

@JudyEv they were amazing able to escape Latvia with WW II going on, getting married, and looking so fine, I would have been a wreck.

@RasmaSandra People from those regions had to be incredibly resilient.

@LindaOHio at that time they did not even know when they would get to the New World or that I would come along,

@Kandae11 I agree they are very missed but do watch over us. I also miss my mother-in-law a fine lady and her birthday was May 23 so it all happens in May for me.

@grenery8 they still had a lot ahead of them they arrived in NY Harbor in 1951.
