A Bumpy Ride to the Grand Canyon – But So Worth It!

One of the highlights of our recent trip was a side adventure to the Grand Canyon in Arizona. We joined a tourist bus from Las Vegas and made the long drive across state lines. It was supposed to be a smooth ride… but fate had a little twist in store for us. ?? Somewhere along the way, the bus we were riding conked out! Yes, it broke down in the middle of the trip, and we had to wait a couple of hours for a replacement to arrive. It was frustrating and we almost thought we wouldn’t make it to the Grand Canyon. But thankfully, we did. And wow — it was so worth it. ?? We only got to visit one section of the entire Grand Canyon park, but even that small portion was breathtaking. The vastness, the layers of color, and the dramatic cliffs were like something out of a painting. I couldn’t stop taking photos — every angle looked like a postcard. It’s amazing how one “strip” of the park already offers so much natural beauty. It really makes you wonder what else lies beyond that we didn’t get to see. Maybe next time! Despite the hiccup, it was truly an unforgettable experience. Anyone else here had their travel plans almost ruined but ended up with a great memory anyway?

That would have been an incredible experience. We've broken down on trips a few times but I can't remember 'what happened next'.

We were stuck in the middle of the desert for a while, which was a bit of a problem.

@rsa101 That could have been quite nasty if you hadn't been able to get help.

I hope you try this place because it has a certain magic, especially when you learn about its history and how it came to be.

I could imagine how grand it is. Do you have any pictures? It's good that you could see a portion of it, and that it was worth the bumpy ride and hiccups. I had not experienced similar incidents like yours. I was unable to tour the Grand Canyon when I was there in Wyoming, but I was able to visit the Devils Tower, which I had always wanted to see after watching the movie, ET. Have fun and enjoy your travels.

My daughter and I have been to the Grand Canyon and had a wonderful time there. (Our trip happened when Pretty was seven years old, so a LONG time ago now.) I'm sorry your trip had problems but glad it didn't ruin the enjoyment for you.

Although it nearly ruined, we will have to wait a few hours for a replacement bus. Our trip was delayed by two hours, but we managed to see the South Rim, so it's all good. We just got back to Vegas a little later than expected and were completely worn out when we got to our hotel.

@rsa101 We drove along the South Rim for several miles before exiting out towards our hotel. I'm sure you were exhausted after a long day.
