You might think I’m kidding about liking this guy. 
And, for the second day in a row, it’s one of the biggest names in music doing a song that you DON’T know! Let’s get to mooning you!
Bad Side of the Moon - Elton John
How does she find these songs, you ask. As I said yesterday, I had all of his albums. And I bought a lot of the 45s because they had non-album B-sides. Although I didn’t find this one until the CD compilation of the B-sides, Rare Masters, in 1993, it was a non-album B-side.
This was the flip of “Border Song.” As that wasn’t nearly the hit that “Your Song” was, it got forgotten quickly. (Quick trivia: “Border Song” was the only song where Elton wrote lyrics!) I love this, though. It has the raw, early energy that I enjoyed in other songs like “Take Me to the Pilot.”
Since I don’t repeat artists, you’re done with Elton for the month. Enjoy this early buried treasure until next time.

I’m generally not a big fan of pre-Tumbleweed Connection stuff. There’s good music in every aspect of his career, but Empty Sky isn’t the album I’d pull out to try to convince anyone that Elton is a great singer and songwriter.

Understandable. I’m not a big fan of “Your Song,” the big hit from that time for Elton. So naturally the ones I do like would make everyone shrug.
