Our Friday ALMOST Turned into a Nightmare

They say that almost every camping trip will have a hiccup or two to deal with, although I'd have to say we've been mostly lucky—knock on wood. On Thursday night we had some heavy rain and the power flickered a bit during that. I surmised then that's probably what caused the flickering. Although on Friday, in the morning, it was still happening, and the power even went out several times, and between Larry and I we determined we probably had a faulty switch or outlet plug at the power box. I went to the front desk and told them about it and the park manager told me she didn't have a maintenance guy to look at it, and that we might have to move the camper to a different site. I was not happy about the prospect of packing everything back up, hooking, and having to move, especially considering we had food in the crock pot we needed to cook and had plans to go into the Downtown area for the day. She did tell us no one would be in the site next to us, so we decided to go to Camping World to get a 30 amp extension cord, only to be on our way back from the store when I got a call from someone apparently higher than the park manager who told us we couldn't connect power to the neighboring box, and reiterated we might have to move, but that the owner would come and take a look at it, but she had no idea when he might show up. So, we used the extension anyway so we at least had power in the meantime and could use the crock pot. But in the meantime, we were deadlocked not knowing if we'd need to move the camper. Believe me, I was fuming, and ready for a battle if I was going to have to do that. Luckily, it turned out the owner came quicker than I anticipated and was able to fix the problem. My thought would have been, rather than inconvenience guests, someone should have immediately called an electrician to remedy the problem before expecting people to pack all their stuff back up and move a 39' camper to a new spot, which would have ruined the entire day. Lady, you're asking me to move an 8000 pound house and have to redo the water, power and sewer hookups. I'd have been more than livid.

I was just glad to not have to move the camper. I'd have definitely asked for a discount or something.

@porwest And that would be understandable.

@Jenaisle It was odd to me when they told me I MAY have to move, they didn't mention anything about offering a discount. But if it came to that, I'd definitely have asked for one.

@wolfgirl569 Luckily, it all worked out, especially considering we had guests with us from Wisconsin.

lol. I may have considered it. I mean, if I have to hook it all up and pack it all up, I may as well just do that. Go home and call it a done trip.

Luckily the guy showed up to fix the issue before noon and we were able to get on our way. I'm glad it worked out.

It did, and I was glad too. The last thing I wanted to do was to move the camper. I'd have definitely asked for a discount. We had company from Wisconsin with us, our food would have been delayed in the crock pot, and our Downtown plans would have to have been postponed, changing our Saturday plans as well.

Exactly. I can be less than nice when conditions are right and I have a very difficult time holding things back. lol. But I felt a great sense of relief when I saw the owners service truck pull up.
