Music is a universal language. Hence, here I am wanting to unite us all through music. When I was younger, I listened to Elvis, Matt Monroe, Frank Sinatra, and the boy bands that I listened to were: N'SYNC, Westlife, Boyz to Men, and the rest. However, I have never been an avid fan of any of them. So, now, at my old age, I never thought I would become an AVID fan of a boy band from South Korea. If someone told me beforehand, I wouldn't have believed it. This is what happened. I have at least 9 blogs, but I'm not providing any links in this post because I know it's prohibited. I usually research on Google for popular topics to write about. I found out that BTS was one of the most popular topics. Furthermore, my granddaughter has been raving about them, buying their pics and endlessly listening to their music. I asked her, "What's so special about them?" Because all I see are 7 young men. Yes, they're good-looking, but all boy bands have handsome members. "They're different, Grandma," she replied, smiling. "Do you know that they won an award from the US Billboard award show?" I was surprised as I had never heard of any foreign boy band winning the Best Group at the Billboard. This further prompted me to research and feature them in my blogs. The blog traffic increased with their articles. Hence, I researched and wrote more about them. As I researched more, I learned more about each of their personalities and their good deeds behind the curtain. I came to know astonishing things about them: they have spoken at the United Nations Assembly about youth and several significant topics. They were the guest of the US president at the White House, they snagged the Top 1 song on Billboard's Hot 100 songs in the U.S., etc, etc,. During each of their birthdays, they donated to charitable institutions. People of all ages can relate to their songs because many of their songs talk about loving one's self, overcoming the "shadows" in one's life, and that life goes on despite all challenges that come one's way. Even their songs, when they seem to be clowning, are about social problems. Like this song about the younger generation being exploited by some employers. You may want to watch the song here, which was interpreted by another Korean. If you have watched the video, you may now know what I mean. Aside from all the things I mentioned above, they are also extremely talented - dancing complex dance choreo while simultaneously singing in perfect pitch. This is an amazing thing to do. They have great personalities as well. They're so kind, generous, and humble. People talk about them greeting even the cleaning staff when they happen to meet them. They bow to everyone, even the younger singers (usually established singers don't bow to the new or younger singers), and they help clean up their spaces after events. It's no wonder their ARMY (BTS fans) also clean up their own spaces after concerts. AND, yes, I am an ARMY! BTS fans are of all ages. Not only teens. Many are aged 30 and above. A lot are also 50 and above. I am 68 myself. I saw a grandma of 91 attending a concert. Well, I think I've given enough reason. What about you? Who is your favorite boy band and why?

ARMY momma here!!! Just like you, I never thought I would like them. My daughter's bias was JK when she was younger, so one time I searched on him and decided to surprise here one Christmas with photos and BTS merch of JK. She still likes BTS but moved on to others as well. But I got STUCK big time. I used to not recognize any of them way back. But now, I can identify them with their voice or even their backs.

OMG! Raquel (May I call you that?), I have never thought you were an ARMY. Same here, now, my granddaughter listens to other K-pop bands too, after she introduced me to BTS, but I'm forever stuck in the BTS rabbit hole. No matter how I tried to watch other K-pop bands, I couldn't finish their videos. I only watch BTS. They have set the bar so high. My bias is JK as well, and my bias wrecker is J-Hope. I know the BTS fan chant by heart, and I can identify them through their voices and parts of their physical features, too. Borahae, fellow-ARMY. I'm glad I have found one here.

I'd have to go with The Beatles as I grew up listening to their music. The band was a major influence on both the music industry and culturally.

watching your photo, i got confused about your age but now i know and i like that this fanbase has no age limit. you also put a really cool photo of them; they are god-like. their songs really lift me up. i sometimes come back more to their older songs, like haruman, run, buttterfly but i love them as someone close to me and if we talk about music, they are close to me but calling anyone favourite, i don't want to jinx myself cause i love many songs/artists as one big thing, general feeling of making me happy but, yes, bts is a part of that. i also like sinatra's music, relaxing instrumental ones, some chinese pop songs from their chinese drama series. country songs. westlife, of course. i love them too! p.s. baepsae is still an actual thing everywhere in the world or for me, still experiencing that and i wish this changes one day. also, a beat song, which i like when i'm irritated about something

Oh, another fan from Croatia. Who would have thought, you know, BTS? It's okay to like many artists as long as you don't put our boys under the bus. I'm glad you know Baepsae. ARMY applauds this song too much when RM performs the hip thrust. I wonder if all of them know the true meaning of the song? Borahae. (I purple you)

@Jenaisle The real giants in the list. Did you know The Rolling Stones are still playing live gigs and sound almost as good as 60 years ago

My all-time favourite “boy” band has to be The Beatles. It’s all nostalgic now, but in the 60’s they conquered the world. Great music. I’m surprised to see you mention Matt Monroe. I thought he was only known in the UK. A fabulous singer, in the same class of crooner as all the greats.

Yes, Matt Monroe was popular here. Tom Jones too and many more UK singers.
