Vinegar Ice Cubes?

I just read a hack about using vinegar ice cubes to kill outdoor weeds. You put white vinegar in designated ice cube trays and let it freeze. Then you can put them in zip lock bags for later use. The vinegar in ice cube form can then be put on any weeds you have outdoors, and it is supposed to make them wilt and die. Be careful not to get them close to plants you want, for it can do the same to them. What do you think of this? Have you ever tried it?

It's funny you should post about this just now. We got a new neighbour from South Africa And one of the things he said about killing weeds was to use Vinegar So I believe vinegar ice cubes will work.

I have never heard about this, I could have used the info when I had a garden, Anyway I hope it works and don't get those ice cubes mixed up with regular ones,

I hadn't either. You'd have to designate certain trays for just the vinegar.

@celticeagle I so want to make vinegar ice cubes to leave in the freezer in the hope that someone assumes them to be regular ice cubes and uses them in a drink. Sad, I know. But hilarious.

That's why I added the word 'designated'. I don't think those would be very good in a glass of tea.

I know that vinegar will kill anything. I've never tried it; and I'm waiting for the landscaper to find a safe spray to get rid of my weeds. They are choking out the flowers.

Vinegar would do it but have to be careful not to kill the flowers.

@celticeagle Yes. Some of the weeds look like trees. Their stems are quite wide.

I have heard of using vinegar for weeds - but not in ice cube form. Interesting - maybe the ice keeps the vinegar from spread too far out - right, like you said, we wouldn't want it to get too close to the plants we want to keep alive. Well, I'm at battle with weeds at 2 houses . . . I can use all the help I can get!

I think pouring boiling water on them works too.

Depends on what you want, a smelly area or heated one.

@celticeagle The heat isn't going to last long if you're just pouring it on individual plants.
