What a Concept

I have trypophobia. It is the strong aversion or fear of packed patterns of holes. Like seed pods, clusters of holes, sponges, or irregular patterns. It causes nausea, sweating, rapid heartbeat, and even panic attacks. Clutter and chaos cause these same reactions for me. Scientists think that perhaps the brain's visual processing center may become overloaded when one encounters complex visual patterns. This leads to discomfort or fear. Could this also be true of chaos and clutter? Some studies do show that trypophobia might be linked to other anxiety or psychological disorders, such as OCD or depression. It has been proven that being organized can actually improve a person's mental health. That sure holds true for me. When there is no chaos or clutter in my life, I feel fine, but when there is, I feel nauseated and awful. I think this may have to do with why I have felt so poorly the last few weeks. The brain is an amazing thing.

It truly is amazing. I know that I can’t stand clutter. Also counters, tables, dresser tops drive me insane if they aren’t neat and tidy.

When I was younger, it didn't bother me. But, now it sure does.

@celticeagle our thought patterns definitely change through the decades. Some of my likes and even dislikes have flip flopped too.

Clutter does my head in. No clutter in our house. Everything in it's place. And we are minimalistic.

I had no idea there was such a condition. I like things neat and tidy but I don't get too hung up about it.

I have 54 years of accumulation; and it's choking me. Cousin #3 is going to help me downsize and declutter. I hope it works because my husband was a bit of a hoarder.

I hate clutter. My mom was born during the depression, and she hoarded stuff.
