On the Run From the Law

Well...sort of.
For my recent birthday, my son's girlfriend planned a fun weekend in Orlando visiting various theme parks, and one of the days was spent at Disney's Hollywood Studios. At the back of the theme park is a themed section called Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, which depicts a remote outpost on the planet Batuu that looks and feels like something straight out of a Star Wars movie. Inside Galaxy's Edge, there is a bar called Oga's Cantina that is very difficult to get into. We were able to snag reservations for the night of my birthday.
First, a little back story: earlier in the day, we rode a ride in Galaxy's Edge called Rise of the Resistance. It is one of the most technologically advanced and innovative rides Disney has ever created, and it literally takes you into the action of a Star Wars movie. Anyway, the premise of the ride is that you are a recruit for the Resistance and you are on a mission when your ship is overtaken by the evil First Order. You are transported as a prisoner to an Imperial Star Destroyer, where you are held captive waiting for Kylo Ren to come force the secret information out of you. While in the holding cell, Resistance fighters sneak onto the Star Destroyer and break you out. You then have to navigate the many parts of the Star Destoyer trying to evade capture and safely make it to the escape pods to jettison down to Batuu. All while Resistance forces are attacking the Star Destroyer with X-wing fighters and attack cruisers. Of course, as the hero of the story, you make it safely down to the planet in your escape pod. When you exit the ride you are told that you are now officially part of the Resistance.
Well, after we exited the ride, we were walking over to Oga's Cantina when we passed a First Order Stormtrooper. As I walked by, I taunted the Stormtrooper with "Long live the Resistance!" I didn't think nothing of it and we kept walking.
Later, when we were having drinks at Oga's, two Stormtroopers walked in with a First Order officer and started asking questions of the staff. Within minutes, the Stormtroopers appeared at our table and the officer started throwing out accusations at me and calling me rebel scum. This went on for several minutes, and then thankfully we were saved by our waitress when she appeared, waved her hand at the Stormtroopers, and told them we were not the rebels they were looking for. It took me a second to recognize that she had used a Jedi mind trick on them. I was off the hook, and off they went in search of other rebel scums.
I left our waitress a very generous tip.

@snowy22315 So the guilty look gives me away? So that's why I keep getting into trouble, even when I'm innocent!

I was going to offer to buy one of the Stormtroopers a drink, but then I realized with his mask on he wouldn't have any way of drinking it. lol

I guess you had to be there or, at least watch Star Wars to understand that.
Glad you're still with us.

Everyone makes fun of me for loving Disney so much, but the full immersion is precisely why it's my favorite theme park to visit. Other theme parks are nice, but they're just places to go to ride the rides. At Disney, you don't go to just ride the rides, you go for the full experience. It's not just about the rides, but the experiences and memories you create between the rides.

I probably could have run from the Stormtroopers and gotten away. They are notorious for their bad aim with their laser blasters.

And this really happened or were you on another planet?

It really happened WHILE I was on another planet! haha. After we had drinks at Oga's Cantina in the remote outpost on the planet Batuu, we left and returned to Earth. We landed back in Disney's Hollywood Studios at a place called Toy Story Land. Thank goodness there were no Stormtroopers in Toy Story Land!

I always have so much fun. And I'm a huge Star Wars fan, so it makes it extra special when I get to interact with characters from the movie.

They sure did! That's the second time I've been caught by Stormtroopers! Pretty soon, they're not going to let me visit anymore.

It's incredible the lengths Disney goes to in order to make the theme park experience seem real. If you ever have a chance to go to Disney World, make sure to stop by Hollywood Studios and ride Rise of the Resistance. It's my second favorite ride of all the rides I have ever gone on.
