Have you ever accidentally made an emergency call by accident?

My old phone or perhaps it was two years ago was terrible in the way that it had the emergency button prominently by the bottom of the phone. More than once I accidentally called 911 and of course you couldn't tell them it was an accident. They would show up anyway..So embarrassing.. Did you ever call 911 by accident?

No, it never happened, the only emergency call I made by accident was to push the alarm button inside an elevator. When they answered I told them it was an accident.

@LadyDuck oh wow, so that begs the question .why was it dark in the elevator? That in turn is a bit alarming

@snowy22315 - The elevator light did not work, we were in the dark and I mistook the alarm button for the Ground Floor.

Ah yes, back then my phone was very sensitive and hence it auto-dial multiple time whenever I put the phone into my pocket and I got a warning letter from the police. This is where I realised that my phone had accidentally auto-dial 999 multiple time over 6 months period.

Nope... But I know a lot of people have. I know it's supposed to be a "safety feature" on some phones that you press and hold the volume button and another button to dial 911 without needing to look at your phone. A lot of older adults used to complain and ask me how to shut that "feature" off on their phones because they were always calling the police. There isn't a way to shut that off.

@snowy22315 There wasn't anything I could do to help the older people who kept doing that. I know some of them gave up their cell phones. I guess the rest figured it out.

Oh yes I have done that but I was quite drunk at the time. The operator did not see the funny side. She said my " hoax" call could rndager a genuine caller who really needed help. She was correct if I had done it on purpose But I didnt

I imagine the majority of those calls are done by those drunk, butt dials, or kids.

No; but I accidentally called the medical pendant people. Both of my phones were ringing as they were checking to make sure I was OK.

That sounds like the same thing I have been called by the security system staff before when it accidentally went off.
