Firefighters from the Kiel Fire Department answered an emergency call on Friday morning around 2:30am when a stove fire started in the kitchen of a duplex that was spreading to the kitchen cabinets.
When the firefighters arrived to the duplex, they found out that three occupants who were in the lower unit escaped safely outside of the home. Firefighters assisted the occupants who were in the upstairs unit to evacuate safely.
The firefighters used a water-based extinguisher to put out the fire quickly. There were no injuries as a result of the fire.
The damage as a result from the fire was around $25,000 dollars.

This story just confirms that we all need to keep our smoke alarms in good condition and test that they are working properly every now and then.
The firefighters did very well putting the fires out.
Expensive damage though

@Deepizzaguy
We do check our smoke alarms every year.
We had to put a new battery on one last year

If the firefighters had arrived later, the damage bill would have been much higher, and the residents can be thankful for that.
