Is technology empowering us-or making us too reliant on machines?

Technology has become an inseparable part of our lives—connecting people, simplifying tasks, and even shaping how we think. From voice assistants to smart homes, we’re surrounded by tools that once seemed futuristic. But with convenience comes dependency, and many wonder if we’re losing touch with basic skills. What do you think: is this progress or a potential problem in disguise?

It's a boon but definitely is coming with It's fair share of curses too. I personally feel that the time saving tools have actually made people crazy busy and distracted. I don't see much productive use of the time saved by these tools.

Yeah. One has to know how to distill the advantages out of technology

@Dreamerby Yes. But it is very tricky. In my therapy and counseling sessions, I am getting more and more cases of addictions to social media, gaming etc. Youths are not able to limit it and it has ruined their social, emotional, logical and academic life.

I guess technology could turn into a problem if kids don't continue to learn the skills they'd need if suddenly the tachnology was no longer availabe.

Kids are spending too much time with technology and not enough time outside and using their creativity.

I would say overall the technological boom is beneficial, but it has to be used with care.

How many people can actually afford smart homes? There are still plenty of people who don't rely on machines to do their work from day-to-day. Just like there will always be a sub-set of people who don't use smart phones, computers and tablets. IF something happens to all the technology, those people can teach whoever is left in the world how to do things the old fashioned way.

For me , I think it's a problem if you can't do your simple tasks alone like sweeping and mopping the floor then you will be lazy enough for other household chores.

It's definitely a double edged sword. I think we might well be losing touch with basic skills right enough
