Pause, check-in with yourself, and answer appropriately

I had a phone call from the doctor who saw me today lastnight about 9p. He wanted to know if I would be able to see him at 9a. instead of the scheduled 3p. In times gone by I would have changed it. But, no. I made the appointment time for when I knew I'd be okay having someone come in. I have social anxiety and have had to make some changes in my life because of it. So, now, instead of doing whatever people want me to do, I am taking care of myself and doing what I want. Not what others want of me to make their lives easier. So I pause, check-in with myself, and then answer appropriately. It's good mental health.

I feel the same way. I get very anxious waiting for people, even the Meals on Wheels volunteers.

I so agree with you, and that applies to physical as well as mental health. I got “overheated” yesterday because I forgot things (like I’m old, it’s hot, and I don’t have the stamina and heat tolerance at 65 that I did at 25). Your doctor is a vitally important person in your healthcare, but I think the singular most important person in your healthcare is yourself!!

It's good that you're taking care of yourself in this way.

Yes indeed You do have to do what is right for you . And if it is good for your mental health then it's even better.
