Bayeux got a really good soaking tonight when an almighty thunderstorm broke at about 8 pm, just as we found a restaurant to eat and shelter in. it was a really good downpour following on the heels of a torrid afternoon. During the afternoon I located the nursing home where my brother resides. I also located my brother and was able to take him out in his wheelchair for and hour for a drink at a cafe in the centre of town. His speech is a bit indistinct but we managed and enjoyed the time together. Tomorrow I’ll take him out again, weather permitting. Something I’ve noticed about Bayeux is that a lot of English dog owners seem to holiday here. Another of my brothers brings his dogs, but he’s Scottish. There are also a lot of single English ladies of a certain age wafting around in clouds of lavender and camomile tea. Nice place.

I'm glad you were able to take your brother out. My husband spent a year in hospitals and rehab and never got to go out except in an ambulance.

@xFiacre Yes. We both had a horrible year. He was home one day in that year, he fell 3 times and had to go back to the hospital and then rehab. It broke my heart to see him go again.

Are those fancy butterflies floating above the street? A deluge after a hot day would be very welcome. That's good you were able to take your brother out.

@xFiacre We were amazed with 'floating' umbrelles in Albert in France. Later, we saw photos of similar in a dozen different countries.

Normandy is a beautiful French region, I imagine it attracts many retirees. Back in time many British moved to the French Riviera, that now is too much expensive for everyone.
