Do you speak differently around men v. women?

When a bunch of men get together, there is sometimes a bit of vulgarity added to the conversation, just for fun.
When women are around (for example, my band mates' wives, female coworkers), I tend to be a bit more civilized. Until they curse like a sailor, giving me permission to do the same.
My friend Tereese, whom I have known since she was a kid, was exposed to adults who swear a lot at family gatherings. I do not have to hold back with her.
The stereotype is that men speak more about "instrumental" things like gear ratios, the stock market, sports, and politics, while women talk more about emotions, and offer more support and less "advice" in their conversations. I think there is truth to some those things.

Yes
I try not to swear around women.
I never ever swear around Yvonne
Oh wait, sometimes I do.
When watching a football match and the referees make bad decisions
Or my team loses
And other things to but not much

@Ineeddentures For shame! Have you taught her even harsher words?

Oh my wife is a fan of the same football team I am
And I have heard her swear at the referee a few times
She even questioned whether he knew his father, or rather implied with a single word that he did not

I agree with you. I don't much like going to women's groups. They seem to be more judgemental about what others are wearing; they gossip about others and generally I avoid such groups. They have a couple of handicraft groups here and a 'chick flick' just for the ladies once a month. I go to one group sometimes. I swear more if I'm with Vince and male friends. I think they temper their language a bit if I'm there. One is certainly much more circumspect if he is with his wife!

Yes. I had a tendency to flirt around men when I was younger. Got me in trouble at least once. I laugh more when I'm with women. I've always preferred male company to female.

I don't usually speak personally to men. I use to speak with women with respect and formal where I am in charity organizations.
