Salomé’s garden.

I took my brother out in his wheelchair today for lunch. It’s only when you do that sort of thing that you discover how well or otherwise a town caters for wheelchair users. Bayeux is reasonable although there are a lot of cobbled streets that send rhythmic shock waves through the passenger and up the arms of the pusher. It was heavy work at times, but the most rewarding part was sitting in a garden we found that was created in memory of an 18 year old French girl killed in a terrorist attack in Morocco in 2011. Horrible thought, but a lovely place to sit under the shade of an oak tree beside the river. Bayeux has lots of little corners of calm like this. I must revisit sometime.

I remember pushing our boy in his chair on the cobbles in Montrose. Oh how he laughed at my struggle It really does look like a nice garden in which to sit and enjoy it. Hope you and your brother both enjoyed the day, and the lunch

@ineeddentures He loved getting out. Hasn’t been out for a few months because his wife’s not able and his children live 300 miles away. He (and she) just moved to Bayeux so know no-one. Hope to come again in October. Must bring my own shock absorbers.

@xFiacre Hope you do get back there in October. And also hope his kids can go and see him as often as they can. Shockers , aye might lessen the bumps a bit

Wheelchairs can be incredibly heavy to move. The least little incline really makes the 'pusher' work.
